We had a wonderful time this weekend participating in the LL Bean/ Maine Audubon Birding Festival, which included bird walks, lectures, displays and some hands on bird sketching taught by Michael Boardman (that’s me!) Our sketchers did a fantastic job, as you can see from their handiwork here. Big thank you to Maine Audubon for the loan of the bird mounts. We’ll be doing more sketching workshops, so sign up on our mailing list for details and locations!
- Michael Boardman is an avid naturalist who has lived his entire adult life in the great state of Maine. His life long interests in wildlife, hiking, kayaking and artwork all combine to create the work you see here. Michael works mostly in watercolor in the field, painting when time permits or field sketching when not. He was selected to be the Visiting Artist at Baxter State Park in 2010 and the Artist in Residence at Acadia National Park in 2012. The summer of 2015 he was in Glacier Bay National Park in Alaska for the Voices of the Wilderness residency. You can see his work currently at Maine Audubon in Falmouth, ME.
